Basement room designs

Basement decorating is a great way to turn unused space into a whole new room. If you really do it up nice, it can add a new dimension to your house! Granted that this idea may turn some people off because a basement is stuck underground, but in reality this fact is an advantage for certain types of rooms. Here are a few remodeling ideas used by some people for their basements, the pros and cons of each, and a few tips for you if you decide to go with any of these ideas. With just a little bit of work, your basement can be the perfect music or home theater room. Perhaps the biggest thing about this makeover is the acoustic lining that you'll want to put on the ceiling and walls. This assures total sound quality in a closed room. Basements are great for home theaters because most of them are already pretty dark, but you need to make sure you have a good dehumidifier to protect the electronic equipment.

Game room - perfect for the basement! More and more people are taking pool tables, mini alcohol bars, dartboards, and similar stuff and making their basements into game rooms. The also follows that it's easier to host parties in their basements since the neighbors won't complain about the noise. You can do this quite inexpensively with some colorful paint and good lighting.

Home Gym - it's pretty easy to get your basement set up as your new favorite workout area. You won't have to worry about marking up the floors or walls and the concrete gives the equipment a solid footing. If you don't like the hard floor, put down some rubber mats. The only thing you'll need to worry about, however, is finding a good ventilation system for your basement to keep fresh air circulating in it constantly since you'll be breathing heavily from exercise.

Workshop - like the gym idea, this is a simple one that requires little modification to the basement. Instead of the classic garage set workbench, some handy men have taken to transferring their benches and power tools to the basement. If you make small things in your workshop, the basement is perfect but if you build large cabinets then you might have to make the basement door larger to get them out. You can spend as much or as little as you want when decorating your basement. Nevertheless like any other home interior decorating project, the more you do the better it will look!
